Dr. Sandra Užule-Fons, born in Daugavpils (Latvia) is a historian and journalist. She took her degree at Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań) and conducts research on the 19th and 20th-century history and political culture of the Baltic countries. She popularizes knowledge of Latvia in Poland and carries out projects on media and journalism in the former USSR. Documentary films are another interest, for example she came up with the original idea for the film Baltic Poker: What is Putin up to? for which she co-wrote the script and personally appeared as one of its protagonists (2006). The film won second prize at Festiwal Sztuki Faktu (‘Art of Fact’ Festival) in Toruń in 2016.
